At 09:4, June 23, 2020, China successfully launched 55th navigation satellites of Beidou system and the last global network satellite of BeiDou 3 with Long March No. 3 B carrier rocket in Xichang Satellite Launch Center, so far, the constellation deployment of Beidou III global satellite navigation system has been fully completed half a year ahead of the original plan.
“The sky is easy to use, and the ground is easy to use”
This is the message from Academician Sun Jiadong, the first chief designer of China Beidou satellite navigation system project, to Beidou system.
What is the impact of Beidou on surveying and mapping?
1. Improve measurement efficiency and quality
Beidou III satellite navigation system consists of 24 Central Earth orbit (MEO), 3 geostationary orbit (GEO) and 3 tilted geostationary orbit (IGSO), totally 30 satellites. Compared with other satellite navigation systems, the mixed constellation composed of three kinds of orbital satellites has more high-orbit satellites with strong anti-blocking ability, especially the performance characteristics of low-latitude areas are more obvious.
In the past, GPS positioning technology was mainly used in engineering surveying and mapping. Due to the technical characteristics of GPS itself, signal interruption problems often occur, affecting the measurement efficiency and quality. The establishment of Beidou satellite navigation and positioning system makes RTK search more stars, which can effectively improve the operation efficiency.
2. New signals bring higher accuracy
Beidou system provides navigation signals of multiple frequency points, which can improve the service accuracy through the combination of multiple frequency signals. For example, the availability of the new signals B1C and B2a is better than 87% under the condition of pdop≤6. The average value of the measured positioning accuracy: the horizontal level is about 2.4m, and the elevation is about 4.3m; The velocity measurement accuracy is about 0.06 m/s; the timing accuracy is about 19.9ns(95% confidence level).
3. Serving global surveying and mapping enterprises
China’s Beidou is also the world’s Beidou! Beidou’s service is not only in China, but also in the Asia-Pacific region and many places around the world.
In South Korea, some enterprises engaged in the generation of surveying and mapping equipment rely on Beidou navigation to develop surveying and mapping equipment. The unmanned surveying and mapping ship of this surveying and mapping enterprise uses Beidou satellite signals to accurately locate.
